This web site attributes its quirks and craziness, its nooks and crannies, and its occasional useful bits of information to Fullerton College oceanography professor and author, W. Sean Chamberlin, PhD. OceansOnline.com hit the internet for the first time Fall 1997 as a source of information and other teaching and learning resources for students and instructors around the globe. In 2008, publication by McGraw-Hill of Exploring the World Ocean, by biological oceanographer, W. Sean Chamberlin, PhD, and physical oceanographer, Tommy Dickey, led to a renaming of the site to ExploreWorldOcean.com. Both domains points to the same site.

Since its inception, the site has strived to accomplish the following:

• provide a reliable source of information about the world ocean and its inhabitants
• provide a broad range of teaching and learning tools for students and instructors
• share with the world an inspired and fervent passion for all things ocean
• share with the world a perspective for preserving the world ocean in a state that benefits its inhabitants and everything that depends upon the ocean for survival, including humans

OceansOnline.com and ExploreWorldOcean.com collect no personal information about people who visit the site. In fact, we don't even have a mailing list.

In the spirit of making the ocean accessible to as much of the world as possible, you'll find thousands of pages of content here, As our only means of support comes from the sale of books, DVDs, and other items shown in the sidebars, we appreciate your click-thrus and purchases.
